Engaging the community to improve

children's health in Hampton Roads

Healthy Kids

The Healthy Kids program seeks to reduce childhood obesity by promoting healthy eating and physical activity from infancy through childhood. The program partners with early care and education centers across Hampton Roads to make simple policy changes and train staff, while also encouraging children and parents to eat healthy, exercise often, and drink lots of water.

We strive to help children:

  • Learn what it means to “eat the rainbow” and make healthy food choices
  • Taste new and nutritious foods
  • Understand the importance of running and playing everyday
